A little rain, a lot of renovation, and some very good reasons to come back to Nosara
September and October have always been a little slower for Ryan and me. Traditionally, it’s our time to relax, enjoy the rain, recharge our batteries, and let Nosara do what she does best—slow down and find her balance before high season arrives.
This year, however, things were a little different.
A season of care

We started the rainy season with some travel to visit family and friends, while also giving Nosara a chance to breathe.
But Casa Vitality had other plans.
Our beloved home needed some love, care, and attention.
We tackled roofing, floor refinishing, and a full kitchen renovation. For a while, the house felt chaotic, with dust, workers, moved furniture, and tools taking over guest spaces.
A fresh new life

Under all that mess, something exciting was happening. We were giving Casa Vitality a fresh new life, and it has not looked this good since we completed our remodel.
That care matters to us. Guests come to Nosara for something special, and we want Casa Vitality to feel fresh, comfortable, cared for, and maybe just a little spoiled. In just a few days, we will open the doors again, and we cannot wait to welcome new and returning guests.

Blue skies in Nosara

This year, we have been feeling a particularly strong El Niño pattern. In our part of Costa Rica, La Niña generally brings wetter conditions, while El Niño pushes the wet weather farther north and can leave us drier.
For guests, that has meant sunshine when we normally expect rain, drier days, beautiful conditions, and waves that have been keeping surfers very happy. October is here, and the surfers are still out enjoying every minute of it.
Of course, there is another side to all that sunshine. We have received only a fraction of the rain we would normally expect, and November is currently expected to be on the drier side, which many of you visiting from colder climates may consider excellent news.
Weather always keeps us humble. For now, we are enjoying the blue skies and reminding guests to conserve water, stay cool, and wear sunscreen.
Trade the sweaters for sandals
If the northern sunlight has disappeared a little too early this year, there is still time to fix the situation. We have a few openings remaining at Casa Vitality Bed & Breakfast, along with availability at several of our BPII Properties.
Trade the sweaters for sandals. We think you will feel better.
Casa Nunc

There is a property we have been incredibly excited about, Casa Nunc. From the moment it was being built, it received enormous love and attention, with no expense spared on amenities, details, finishes, and guest comfort.
The name Nunc comes from Latin, meaning “now.” In Spanish, it carries a little whisper of nunca, “never.” Together, they create a philosophy we rather like, NOW OR NEVER.
Within just two days of Casa Nunc becoming available for rent, we had already filled a huge portion of its high-season calendar. The reasons are simple: location, design, attention to detail, amenities, luxury, space, and a price that makes sense.
Casa Nunc accommodates up to 10 guests and is a four-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom home on one of the most sought-after streets in the K Section of Playa Guiones. The main surf beach is a four-minute walk away, with restaurants and local amenities nearby. It is fully air-conditioned, thoughtfully designed, and made for good company, long lunches, pool time, and memories. “Wait… this is all for me?”
Casa Nueve

Casa Nueve is our latest addition to the BPII family. Inspired by the Greek Islands, this brand-new home was designed not simply to impress, but for living, entertaining, family time, slow mornings, long evenings, and the tranquility of the mountains above Nosara.
Casa Nueve is available for short-term stays over the holidays, from December 6 through January 9. It is also available for a 12-month lease beginning December 1, and if you fall completely in love with it, let us know. We may be able to have a conversation about making Casa Nueve your permanent home. It’s currently available to purchase.
Driving in Costa Rica

We also hear many questions about driving in Costa Rica, and yes, we drive on the right side of the road, most of the time. Our dear friend Cynthia Ross Tustin, writer behind I’m Thinking of Retiring and creator of the Build a Retirement You’ll Love in 90 Days program, recently shared a useful guide to Driving in Costa Rica.
A retired fire chief—and the first woman fire chief in Ontario—as well as a nurse, Cynthia has spent the past several years helping people create the retirement and lifestyle they’ve been dreaming about.
In one of her latest posts, she put together a very useful guide to Driving in Costa Rica. It covers everything from the requirements for driving in the country to choosing the right vehicle for your trip.
If you’re planning to visit Costa Rica—or you’re already here and still trying to figure out what kind of vehicle can survive some of our roads—it’s worth a read.
Season Opens
The rainy season may be winding down, the houses are getting polished, the surf is looking good, and the doors are about to open again. We are ready for another season, and we hope to see familiar faces, meet new ones, and share a little of our corner of Nosara with you.
